Doing The Work

DOING THE WORK
Original Photography by Authentic Courtney

A bee doesn’t stand over a flower wondering whether today’s work will matter.

It gathers.

One flower.
One trip.
One small contribution at a time.

I photographed this bee in the middle of its work — pollen gathered on its body, completely absorbed in the flower in front of it.

And right now, I understand that kind of work.

I’m building something too.

Not all at once.
Not with everything figured out.
Not knowing exactly where every step will lead.

I’m working with what’s in front of me.

Creating.
Building.
Learning.
Gathering.
Moving forward.

There are days when the individual things I’m doing can seem small.

A photograph.
A product.
A page on my website.
A story.
A video.
Another idea turned into something real.

But a life isn’t built in one enormous act.

It’s built through the work we return to again and again.

Chop wood. Carry water.

Do the work in front of you.

Trust that what you’re building today can become part of something larger tomorrow.

Doing the Work is a photograph about that practice — not waiting for the entire future to reveal itself, but showing up for the work that is here today.

You don’t have to know exactly where all the work is leading.

Sometimes you gather what you can, do the work in front of you, and trust that you’re building something.

One flower at a time.
